SMU Undergraduate 2nd Major in Analytics

Analytics 2nd Major is a university wide 2nd Major which is managed by SIS, working together with undergraduate programs from other schools in SMU. Students from any of the 6 schools can opt into this 2nd Major started from academic year 2013-2014, term 1 till academic year 2016-17, term 2. This 2nd Major is no longer available from academic year 2017-2018 and onwards.
 
 

CURRICULUM

Students are strongly encouraged to complete the following courses before embarking on a 2nd Major in Analytics:

  • STAT101 or STAT151 Introductory Statistics
  • IS02 Computer as an Analysis Tool
  • MATH001 Calculus

Transitioning into the 2nd Major in Analytics

STUDENT YEAR OF ADMISSION  

2010  (Entering year 4 now)

  • Depending on your current 2nd major and your courses taken, it could be possible that you meet the Analytics 2nd Major course requirements
  • You need to closely examine the Analytics 2nd Major requirements above

2011  (Entering year 3 now)

  • No transitioning issues
  • You can choose to switch to the new Analytics 2nd Major if you have already declared your 2nd Major choice
  • You would make this switch via OASIS>Study>Enrolments & Withdrawals, during the online declaration period

2012  (Entering year 2 now)

  • No transitioning issues
  • You may declare this as your 2nd Major via OASIS>Study>Enrolments & Withdrawals, during the online declaration period
