MITB-ANALYTICS STUDENT SELECTED AS SAS STUDENT AMBASSADOR TO PRESENT AT SAS GLOBAL FORUM
Fossil Singapore Pte Ltd
Recipient of SAS Scholarship,
The SAS® Student Ambassador program is a competitive global program that recognizes and supports students using SAS technologies in innovative ways that benefit their respective industries and fields of study.
Ms Cally Ong, MITB (Analytics) student and a SAS scholar, is one out of the 10 SAS Student Ambassadors being selected from a global pool of students, ranging from Undergrad to PhD, to present at the SAS Global Forum in San Francisco, April 28 – May 1 2013.
She is currently a Business Analyst with Fossil Singapore, and also a part-time student at the Master of IT in Business (MITB), Analytics programme. Although a relatively new user to SAS before she join the programme, she has since gained tremendous experience using SAS® Enterprise Guide® and SAS® Enterprise Miner™ through the MITB (Analytics) coursework.
Cally will be presenting her paper entitled "Demand Forecasting Using Growth Model and Negative Binomial Regression Framework". In the project, she has used SAS Enterprise Guide. This is also her Capstone Project sponsored by her hiring company. Capstone Project is a significant part of the MITB curriculum.
Cally says, "Being able to associate new product launches with the growth models will help in forecasting sales for a company as it devises the go-to-market strategy for its business. The analysis would help in many business functions such as inventory management and marketing"
Cally is ecstatic about being selected as a SAS Student Ambassador and would like to help other SAS users "understand the importance of data analytics and the use of SAS."
